About Us

OUR GOAL

"Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together." — James Cash Penney.

Mindful Health Counseling was created to bring consciousness and awareness to our life journey while providing a space for growth. We cannot change what we are not aware of so we strive to create more curiosity with self and others to increase our inner healing. Our goal is to work together to create results that are intentional and long-lasting in a safe space filled with warmth, compassion, and empathy. You are not alone in this journey. We hope that through your time with us, you will be able to leap back into the world as your most authentic and core self.

Services

CHILDREN & PARENTS

We work with children as young as 4 years old and utilize Play therapy, Sandtray Therapy, and Art therapy to create a space for children to express themselves, their emotions, and their struggles. We work with children struggling with anxiety, school distress, grief, separation anxiety, peer problems, social anxiety, low self-esteem, family conflict, and ADHD. We work parallel with parents to help reinforce the work in session to the outside world and provide them necessary tools to help support their child.

TEENS

Our teenage years are so fun, but filled with so much change and autonomy shifts. We work with teenagers struggling with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, grief, friendship difficulties, ADHD, school distress, perfectionists, and people pleasers. Our goal is to provide them the necessary tools and insight to be able to launch into young adulthood.

ADULTS

Our work is ideal for anyone feeling “stuck”, struggling with emotional childhood wounds, chronic illnesses, first responders, life transitions, grief, anxiety, trauma, panic attacks, depression, self-esteem, and/or interpersonal relationships.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a gold standard research based psychotherapy method. It was originally created for PTSD and has been found to be effective for anxiety, depression, other distressing life experiences, childhood trauma, phobias, chronic illness/chronic pain, grief, and eating disorders. EMDR is different than other modalities and great for returning therapy clients or new to therapy clients.

How I explain EMDR to clients includes an understanding of how their past experiences effect their current distress/triggers. Traumas and other life events can often have us feeling “stuck” leaving our wounds unable to process and heal properly. The goal of EMDR is to have us get “unstuck” and allow our brain to heal itself properly typically leading to less triggers/automatic responses in our day to day lives. EMDR focuses not just on the event, but also our thoughts, emotions, and body responses allowing us to process more effectively while staying in a window of tolerance aka without re-triggering the event.

EMDR is a process and can look different for each client, please feel free to reach out if interested in EMDR or wanting to see if it may be a good fit for you! For more information you can also visit www.emdria.org or www.emdr.com
